Celebrating our anniversary in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas

Personal note from owners Leah and Tom Dugan:

Every May, Tom and I celebrate our anniversary by traveling somewhere.  We tend to go to Cabo San Lucas quite often. This year I especially wanted to return to see how the Baja is recovering from Hurricane Odile from Fall 2014.  So, we packed up and stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach for a week.  Even though we were supposed to be laying low, relaxing, and generally doing nothing, I scheduled one day for site inspections (surprise honey!)

Many resorts are re-opened, with extensive remodels, but some are still closed due to the damage of the hurricane.  Many businesses in the downtown area are still closed and remodeling.

Cabo San Lucas is unlike the Cancun/Riviera Maya side of Mexico.  The all-inclusive in Cabo is different from Cancun in terms of inclusions because the water is rougher in many areas.  Therefore, snorkeling and other non-motorized watersports are not included in the all-inclusive package.  There are a few beaches in Cabo that are swimmable, like Medano Beach, that has resorts that sit on that stretch of beach.  Overall though, you will find that many resorts have rocky beaches or the water is so rough that you can’t get in the ocean.  However, Cabo San Lucas is a great area for surfing and kite-boarding!

Also, the landscape is arid and dry.  You will see some palm trees, but more cactus and aloe plants.  This is the desert!   It rains very few days a year in Cabo, which lends itself as a perfect setting for destination weddings.   Villas, fractional timeshares, and homes are prominent.

We enjoy spending time in Cabo or in other towns in the area.   Every fall, Cabo hosts a deep-sea fishing tournament that draws people in from all over the world.  Cabo recently just had their first half-marathon race.  On top of ziplining, bungee jumping, swimming with the whale sharks, whale watching, and camel riding, Cabo San Lucas has several locally owned restaurants and nightclubs that start hoppin’ every night, especially on the weekends.

We are never disappointed when we leave and can’t wait to return. Contact us to start planning your next experience in Cabo and enjoy a few pictures below!
