My focus is on my client’s desired experiences. No one decides to go out of the country and not DO anything!
There are so many places to see and so many things to do! How do you decide on where to spend your time? Especially if you can’t spend multiple weeks in one destination. A good example of this are the countries in Europe. It’s impossible to see everything in one or two weeks.
Follow these simple guidelines and your bucket list planning will go much easier:
- How long do you have to spend on vacation minus the days you are flying? A beach vacation is much different than a European vacation. Plan on spending extra time moving from place to place in Europe. Getting places takes time and usually takes longer than you expect. Going to the beach? Some islands require a little extra drive time to get from the airport to your hotel. Keep this in mind!
- What is the reason you are traveling to the destination? Are you planning on going skydiving or snorkeling? Are you wanting to climb a mountain or go swimming with the whales? Whichever activity you want to do make sure you pre-schedule it! Not every tour/attraction/activity is open every day. Certain activities are only offered once a week. Don’t return home regretting not getting to do what you wanted to go there for in the first place.
- Give yourself 6-9 months in advance to start your travel planning. Don’t wait until the last minute attempting to get a “last-minute deal”. You will save yourself time, energy, and stress by planning early. You will obtain better seats on the plane, have a larger variety of accommodations to choose from, and get in on those smaller tours. Price is an issue only in the absence of value. Don’t undervalue your once-in-a-lifetime experience.
These tips should help you get thinking about your bucket list destinations for 2018!
